Dengue and Chikungunya are transmitted by the Aedes mosquitoes. There are no medicines available for these viral diseases. Liquid food and complete bed rest are the best medicines.
In November 2016, one of my students was tested positive for both Dengue and Chikungunya in our laboratory and this was later reconfirmed by a private pathology lab. She was also having rashes throughout her body.
I advised her to take a decoction of powdered black pepper (piper nigrum 10g) and tulsi leaves (Ocimum Sanctum 10g). Boil these two in 2 litres of water for about 10 minutes. Take this lukewarm decoction 4 – 5 times a day for 5 days. I also advised her to take complete bed rest, plenty of water and liquid food without much spices and oil. She got completely recovered within a week.
Try to avoid all medicines. For children and pregnant ladies, if the fever is more than 41°C they may require medical management.
